The restaurants were comfortable and served good food, as is to be expected on most cruises. The music venues were some of our favorite places to be, especially the dueling pianos area, a favorite Holland American Line musical feature. Though we're not gamblers, it was next to the casino, and it was fun sometimes to look over to see people at slot machines or card tables enjoying this aspect of the cruise line. Our recommendation is to check HAL's “Have it All” package pricing no matter the itinerary you select.

This is one of the reasons why these itineraries are so popular. You can, of course, use your passport or passport card as an ID if you have one. But in the case of closed-loop cruises, U.S. citizens are allowed to enter or depart the country with proof of citizenship. Maine is known for many things, from its startlingly beautiful coastlines and national parks to its variety of historic sites.

Whatever New England cruise or Canada cruise you choose, amazing is on the itinerary. Explore the early days of the “New World” by walking the grounds of significant battles and touring fascinating sites you’ll remember from history books. On our popular Nova Scotia cruises from Boston, munch on fresh seafood and tap your toe along to a fiddler. Or roam the rolling hills, sandy beaches, and Victorian houses of Prince Edward Island. From lighthouses set against the golden summer sun to the most vibrant fall foliage imaginable, a vacation in New England and Canada packs in a lifetime of memories. A city full of history and culture, Boston offers countless things to experience before you embark on cruises to Canada & New England with Princess®.

Because of the Titanic sinking, there are strict regulations for passenger lifeboats on cruise ships. Halifax's cruise port looked largely industrial when we looked out from our balcony. We couldn't tell with 100% certainty how far the walk into the city would be from the cruise ship (even with the help of Google Maps) or if a car service could pick us up at the port. So instead we opted to hang out on the ship and enjoy our stateroom balcony before our excursion.

Knowing that summer is the perfect time to explore New England and areas north led us to cruise from Boston to Canada with Holland America Line. Your boutique hotel at sea, the Azamara Journey® is a mid-sized ship with a deck plan that’s intimate but never crowded, and offers everything modern voyagers are looking for—plus some unexpected extras. Founded in 1608, Quebec City is one of North America’s oldest cities, yet with its European charm, fabulous cuisine, and romantic atmosphere, it remains a popular destination for world travelers to this day.

You can start your exploration by sticking around the West End and taking advantage of the azure waters with many water sports around the harbor. Or, simply enjoy the crystalline environment as a backdrop while checking out the market and shops. The pages of history and stunning natural beauty blend seamlessly as you cruise to Canada & New England to see the color-drenched shores with Princess. Visit the iconic lighthouse at Peggy's Cove in Halifax, return to the Gilded Age in Newport and stroll down Boston's historic Freedom Trail. On board New England cruises, you'll dine like a New Englander on succulent crab cakes and lobster as the allure of the northern seaboard embraces you. On any of Celebrity’s ships, you can enjoy an impressive range of restaurants, with menus designed by a Michelin-starred chef.
